A new research report recommends that companies focus on application availability as a means of increasing productivity throughout the organisation.
Research firm the Aberdeen Group explains that each individual's efficiency may increase with any gain in application performance.
This may in turn have a cumulative effect across the business, according to the analyst.
According to the Aberdeen Group, "the key to success is to bridge the gap between the comfort zone of the desktop, the power of web-based collaboration and the enterprise-level applications".
"The net result is improved personal productivity which translates into improved corporate performance," the organisation adds.
Such an approach complies with the need in financially constrained conditions for companies to "do more with less", Aberdeen Group concludes.
Businesses looking to improve their IP transit without investing in technology could find a managed connectivity solution equipped with intelligent border gateway protocol (BGP) to be an option.
Information handled by an intelligent BGP-enabled network is routed over the most efficient path available on the system, helping to keep data flowing quickly.
