IP transit 'of benefit to media firms'

23/07/2008

The potential benefits to be derived from implementing an effective IP transit solution were highlighted at a recent event in Malta.

Vodafone Malta, provider of mobile telephony to the island, presented on the subject at the Digital Arts Expo, reports the Malta Independent.

Karl Galea, one of the firm's speakers, told the publication: "New technologies and the democratisation of media are changing the way we do content, exchange ideas and communicate brands."

Other topics covered by Vodafone in its presentations included the ways in which it is collaborating with digital media producers.

Among Vodafone Malta's business solutions is the provision of high-speed data connections equipped with border gateway protocol (BGP).

Using BGP, data takes the most efficient route available on the network to make the most of the bandwidth at the system's disposal.

Vodafone Malta adds that, over a 30-day period, it aims to achieve an uptime rate of at least 99.6 per cent.
