It has been reported that hackers have launched a massive website attack, leaving malicious links on as many as 10,000 web servers.
Security software company Kaspersky Lab, said the affected servers are in Western Europe and America, but are not aware who launched the attack.
The hackers are adding a line of Javascript code onto the affected sites, which redirects victims to one of six servers. The affected sites then redirect victims to a server located in China. This server launches a variety of attacks exploiting flaws in the Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers, Adobe’s Flash Player and ActiveX management controls.
Hack victims with PCs that are not fully patched could be risking the safety of their data, as cyber criminals can install spyware on their machines.
This security threat follows a similar attack earlier this year, which infected 1.5 million web pages.
