Managed services provider eLINIA has unveiled a secure ‘in the cloud’ back-up and storage service aimed at SMEs.
The service incorporates Amazon S3 technology and eLINIA’s secure, encrypted, backup service enabling businesses to backup all their local servers as well as databases and products like Microsoft Exchange.
Recent reports of data breaches involving lost backup media have encouraged security conscious businesses to look for ways of removing the need for media storage.
eLINIA’s cloud storage service utilises a local backup appliance to cache data before transferring it straight to secure datacentres in the UK.
James Carnie, technical architect at eLINIA said: “Customers we have spoken to see tape back up as unreliable. There’s a lot of management required everyday to ensure critical business data is secure, and even then there are no guarantees that data won’t be stolen or simply lost. Cloud storage eliminates this risk, and the extra level of security that our managed service delivers should help even the most security conscious IT manager sleep easy at night.”
