Technology company Sun launched a new flash storage array on Monday reports Datacenter Dynamics.

The F5100 Flash Array has been designed to speed up Oracle and My SQL database workloads, takes up the space of a single rack unit, and has capacity of up to two terabytes and 1.6 million write IOPS performance.

“Today's announcements build on Sun's strategy to lead a new storage hierarchy driven by flash technology to accelerate I/O throughput,” Sun EVP of the Systems Group John Fowler said in a statement.

Sun provides the array with Flash optimised software and states that it is the only vendor to provide fully integrated flash-based hardware and software.
