Colorado-based communications company Level 3 claims to be one of the world's foremost providers of IP-based connectivity solutions.
With operations spanning IP communications and internet backbone provision, the international organisation maintains around 48,000 miles of intercity connectivity routes.
Level 3's customers include all of the top five US wireless connectivity providers, three of the four leading companies in Asia and nine of the top ten European telecoms firms.
These are catered for by the dedicated Level 3 European Markets division - one of four main business areas covered by the organisation.
In establishing the division, Level 3 explains that it sought to establish a segment capable of providing connectivity services via "a global network for a world getting smaller".
This, the company notes, meant creating a network to carry voice, video and data files from European data centres to their counterparts across the Atlantic and elsewhere in the world.
Other areas of operation include Level 3 Business Markets, which caters for regional enterprises across intercity and metro fibre networks.
Level 3 Content Markets adds support for media-rich enterprises such as advertising and broadcast distribution services which transmit data to multiple destinations.
Finally, Level 3 Wholesale Markets provides connectivity solutions to national and international organisations with a need to send data via voice, video and data networks.
