Tata Communications - connectivity across 200 countries

Some 200 different countries are provided with connectivity services via Tata Communications' Tier-1 IP network, the company reveals.

Part of the Indian Tata Group, the connectivity solutions provider asserts that it also has a "strong anchor" from which to expand its presence in Africa, following investment in the continent's communications firm Neotel.

At present, the organisation operates from 80 different office locations in 40 countries worldwide.

However, it is capable of providing connectivity to five times that number of countries thanks to its operations across 300 different points of presence.

This is enhanced by the installation of one of the most advanced and wide-ranging submarine cable connectivity networks in the world, Tata Communications adds.

Among those already utilising the firm's infrastructure are consumers, service providers, mid-size and Fortune 1000 enterprises.

These are given access to features such as managed network connectivity, IP and converged voice communications and data centre services.

While Tata Communications was only formally created in 2008 through the unification of VSNL, VSNL International and Teleglobe, the roots of its parent group stretch back 140 years.

Tata Group explains that its origins are to be found in the creation of one of India's largest conglomerates by Jamsetji Nusserwanji in 1868.
