The challenge
Richard Einsiedl, director of IT leads the global technology team at DeviceAnywhere from its headquarters based in San Mateo, California. He is responsible for a global team of technical staff who are tasked with managing the DeviceAnywhere public product portfolio which provides remote access to physical devices located in thirteen data centres worldwide.
The Solution
ControlCircle provides data centre colocation and hosting services for the DeviceAnywhere TestCenter solution in its primary European centres, UK and France, with rack space, BGP and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) connectivity, 24/7 monitoring and management via portal services and CCTV over IP secure data centre services.
With extensive footprints in both ControlCircle’s London and Paris data centre DeviceAnywhere’s infrastructure comprises of Windows-based web servers standardised on Dell hardware, SQL databases and NetApp's storage with a blended BGP service for optimum connectivity levels. Mobile devices, ranging from the latest tablets and android smartphones to older generation feature phones are mounted in cradles at each site and connected into the application servers using DeviceAnywhere’s patented Direct-to-Device™ technology. In the data centre, GPRS antennae systems were added to safeguard and fortify connections to the local mobile carrier networks such as O2UK, Vodafone, 3UK, SFR, Orange and others.

The IT infrastructure is co-monitored by a team of certified engineers in ControlCircle’s 24/7 Network Operations Centre in London, who work closely with DeviceAnywhere to ensure constant protection and monitoring of the network. Rick Einsiedl explained: “Managed service providers should be ranked by a measure of their operational maturity and I rate ControlCircle as outstanding. There is never an automated response from them. Instead, I have dialogue with my dedicated ‘Direct Touch Engineer’ - a technical account manager who has deep knowledge of our implementation and network.”
